Plate Calculator

The Plate Calculator shows you exactly which plates to load on a barbell for any target weight. It accounts for the bar weight and calculates the optimal plate combination using the plates you have available.

Opening the calculator

The plate calculator is accessible from the Settings tab. It also appears inline during a workout session when a set has a recommended weight — tap the barbell icon to open it pre-loaded with the recommended value.

How it works

Enter a target weight. The calculator shows a visual barbell diagram with the plates to load on each side, along with the list of plate denominations to use.

Plate combinations are calculated using the plates available for your selected unit system:

  • Imperial (lb): 2.5, 5, 10, 25, 35, 45 lb plates; 45 lb bar
  • Metric (kg): 1.25, 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20 kg plates; 20 kg bar

The smallest increment you can load is 2.5 lb (imperial) or 0.5 kg (metric).

Units

The calculator uses whichever unit system you have set in your profile. To switch between lb and kg, go to Settings → Units.
